As a former professional dancer and athletic trainer, Dr. Butera
has developed a results oriented practice which allows the patient
to overcome injuries while continuing to train. Her theories of
healing and coaching are a propelling force in today's active lifestyle.
Through her philosophies of healing, Dr. Butera brings the elements
of participation, process and continuity together based on the individual
needs of each patient.
Pilates-Based Rehabilitation
Private Pilates-based Mat and Reformer classes are offered as a
part of our Rehabilitation program. The Pilates method uses specialized
machines to stretch and strengthen muscles, resulting in a sleek,
statuesque posture and improved flexibility, endurance and coordination.
Special emphasis is placed on training the whole body, coordinating
the upper and lower musculature with the body's core center. The
method is safe, yet effective for all levels of fitness and is designed
to take the participant from the beginner to advanced status at
their own pase. The benefits of Chiropractic with Pilates rehabilitation
are powerful. While Chiropractic diagnoses and treats the weaknesses
and misalignments of the spine, Pilates strengthens the adjacent
muscles. The patient receives a more comprehensive treatment achieving
a deeper and more permanent correction.
Extremity Adjustments
Dr. Butera addresses the spine as well as injuries to the upper
and lower extremities. Hand, wrist, shoulder, hip, knee, foot and
ankle problems, whether created from sports or job overuse syndromes
are adjusted and rehabilitated through therapy and exercise. Preventive
muscle re-education is introduced in order for the patient to resume
participation in his activities without re-injury.
